How long have you been with Heinen’s?
I started in 2001 when the Brecksville store opened, and worked in produce for 2 and a half years. Then I moved over to seafood and I’ve been in the seafood department ever since.
Name a few ingredients that are always in your kitchen.
I always have olive oil, Feisty Fish Rub and hot sauce.
Do you cook?
Yes. I really like to try new recipes. I’m always looking for something new and different and exciting. I try not to make the same thing too much!
What are the top sellers in the seafood department?
Salmon is popular, especially fresh, wild salmon when it’s available. We also sell a lot of tuna, swordfish and Chilean sea bass.
What question are you asked the most?
Two questions: what the different fish taste like and how to cook it.
Do you have a favorite seafood item?
I love the Alaskan rock fish fillets. I rub it with a little bit of olive oil, season with Feisty Fish Rub and grill it up.
What’s the best part of your job?
Seafood is a really unique department. We have such a wide array of products available to us. Depending on the season and the weather, we have a different variety of items every week and sometimes even every day. I could probably bring in a different item every day for a year and still not get to everything that’s out there!
