One of America’s great pastimes is in season: The Football Tailgate. It’s time to eat drink and root for your favorite team from the comfort of your hatchback. Tailgates down, foam fingers up and plenty to eat and drink. Last week I gave you a few ideas that were on the lighter side. Today it’s all about easy, portable and delicious.
I’ve picked my three favorite sausages from Heinen’s meat department. The beauty of these is that they are all fully cooked. Simply grill them to add delicious caramelized grill marks, slice and serve. Beef & Bleu is fantastic. Any sausage that oozes cheese when you slice it is a winner.
I’ve teamed these up with three sauces. One is classic buttermilk ranch from the deli department. Choose your favorite.
Spicy Red Sauce
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/2 cup course grain mustard
- 1 Tbsp Franks hot sauce
- Simply stir together and serve.
Apricot Sweet Paprika Mayo
- 1/2 cup mayonnaise
- 1/3 cup apricot preserves
- 1 Tbsp sweet smokey paprika
- mix and serve.
Ok, these are embarrassingly easy but so many of you tell me that recipes with more than 5 ingredients are too complicated. This is delicious warm or room temperature. Easy to transport to the game and no fuss to serve. Everyone’s a winner!
