Year after year, our well-appointed cheese counters have prompted Clevelanders to name Heinen’s an award winning gourmet cheese shop. We’re proud of our selection and are always searching for the latest cheeses to join our favorites.

We carry over 250 varieties from around the world, including one-of-a-kind artisan and farmstead cheeses. For serving tips, as well as wine and beer pairings, meet with our cheese specialists. They love to talk cheese!

The Secret of the Ooze!

Welcome, Mackenzie Creamery Cocoa Caprine.

New in our cheese departments for fall is perhaps one of the most inventive and delicious creations from local goat cheesemaker Jean Mackenzie. Cocoa Caprine (“dancing goat”) is a masterpiece, and it’s available exclusively at Heinen’s!

Jean melts Belgian Callebaut Chocolate and mixes it into her award-winning fresh chevre. At that point the cheese is formed and rolled into crushed chocolate cookie. As if that weren’t enough, Jean makes a caramel espresso sauce by hand and puts just enough on the bottom of a cup, and presses the cheese on top. Left to come up to room temperature, the cheese magically transforms into so much more than cheese, with the caramel espresso sauce oozing gently down the sides of the cheese … it’s magic.

Enjoy the cheese on either a crisp, thin cookie (such as the Belgian Jules Destrooper Butter Crisps you’ll find on our grocery shelves). Perfectly paired with Ommegang 3 Philosophers beer…you’ll never skip dessert again!
