Fresh from the waters of Alaska and flown directly to Heinen’s.

Fresh Alaskan Cod are caught live in pots, much like King Crab are caught as seen in the television show “Deadliest Catch”. Once caught, the Cod come aboard the fishing vessel live and are immediately put into slush ice. As soon as the boat arrives at the dock, the fish is off loaded into insulated totes, iced and sent via truck directly to Heinen’s Alaska fish distributor, where the fish is prepared to be shipped to Heinen’s the same day it’s caught.

Fresh Alaska troll caught King Salmon are caught in Southeast Alaska. Fishermen go out in small fishing boats, typically less than 30 feet; each fish is caught on a single, baited hook. Since each fish is brought on-board one-by-one, the handling and care given to each fish is excellent, ensuring the highest quality. Once caught, the King Salmon are immediately iced down like the Cod. Much of the Southeast Alaska Salmon are caught near small towns where there are no large airports, so the fish are flown into major airports via small commuter planes then transferred to larger commercial planes and flown directly to Heinen’s.
