Longtime Heinen’s Associate Recognized for Outstanding Commitment to Customers Amidst Global Pandemic

After working countless positions at numerous Heinen’s locations over the last 42 years, associate Mary Smeltzer was well versed in the grocery business, but, like any other essential workers, her day-to-day work was turned upside-down when the Covid-19 pandemic began.

Yet, even with unprecedented change and uncertainty, Mary and her fellow Heinen’s associates throughout North East Ohio and Illinois always believed that they “we’re doing the job that we signed up for.”
