Variety of milk in glass containers

When it comes to dairy, the amount of plant-based alternatives are growing fast. Milk products have evolved immensely to include far more than just skim and fat-free.

At Heinen’s, we’ve made it our mission to carry a wide array of plant-based milk that accommodate a range of dietary lifestyles while still being delicious and rich with health benefits! Whether you drink them straight, add them to cereal and smoothies or use them to bake your favorite sweet treats, our assortment of plant-based milk will not disappoint. Not sure which one you’ll like best? We’ve rounded up our favorites below to make your next trip to our dairy alternative section a breeze!

1.Oat Milk
A great source of Vitamin A and D, oat milk is the newest plant-based dairy alternative trend to hit the market. Califia, Chobani and Planet Oat are a few favorites of ours here at Heinen’s! Creamy and delicious, each of these brands uses gluten-free oats to create an ideal milk-like consistency!

2. Almond Milk
With a creamy texture and nutty flavor, almond milk is perfect to add to your morning coffee and your favorite baking recipes. Low in calories and a great source of calcium, be sure to add Heinen’s Unsweetened Almond Milk to your cart during your next shopping trip!

3. Coconut Milk
You’ll go nuts for coconut milk. If it’s not already your favorite, it sure will be thanks to its high Vitamin C and E content and antioxidant properties. So Delicious is one of our favorite brands because their milk comes in a variety of flavors crafted with organic coconut to create a creamy beverage perfect for smoothies! If you like their milk, don’t forget to check out their coconut milk yogurt, too!

4. Pea-Based Milk
Who would’ve thought that peas could be a source for plant-based milk? The unique thing about pea-based milk is that it is hypoallergenic, making it safe for almost everyone! It doesn’t hurt that it’s high in plant-based protein, too! Ripple makes delicious flavors that are rich with Vitamin D and iron and packed with 8 grams of protein. Best of all, you will hardly be able to tell it was sourced from peas thanks to its smooth and satisfying taste and texture.

5. Soy Milk
Silk’s Soy milk is another great alternative to dairy milk. Similar to pea-based milk, the soy variety is a great source of protein and Vitamin D, but it also has a lot of potassium. If you’re looking for a heart-healthy dairy alternative that is also low in saturated fat, Silk’s soy milk is just what you’re searching for.

6. Cashew Milk
Silk also carries delicious cashew milk that packs the same health benefits! With 50% more calcium than dairy milk and 1/3 of the calories of skim milk, cashew milk also contains a larger amount of copper, which aids in the creation of healthy skin proteins. Similar to almond milk, cashew milk adds a unique and creamy flavor to your favorite drinks and sweet treats.

By Heinen's Grocery Store
In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland, Ohio, aiming to establish himself as the city’s purveyor of quality meats. As customers came into Heinen’s new shop for their meat purchases, they began asking him to carry groceries as well. Joe added homemade peanut butter, pickles and donuts and by 1933, business had grown enough to include a line of produce and canned goods. Heinen’s Grocery Store was born.
