Olive Oil: Myths, Truths and Tastings with Expert Jennifer Thornton

For all the popularity that surrounds olive oil with its numerous health benefits and unmatched flavor, misinformation still abounds. In this 90-minute educational tasting event led by olive oil expert Jennifer Thornton, we will delve into many hidden truths, including:

  • What makes olive oil different from every other oil.
  • Why Extra Virgin is the only olive oil you need!
  • The characteristics, nuances and uses of olive oil and how to select the right one.

Attendees will sample four olive oils from around the world. In addition to this professional olive oil tasting, participants will make two of Jennifer’s favorite recipes: olive tapenade served with classic and gluten free accompaniments, and for a sweet finish, vanilla olive oil ice cream!

This event is led by Jennifer Thornton, owner and educator of Buttercream & Olive Oil, a local cooking school. Jennifer has been working in olive oil for over 15 years. She lived in France where she worked in olive oil mills and traveled throughout Spain, Italy and California to participate in olive oil milling seasons. She is an international olive oil competition judge and passionate about this liquid gold!
