Ingredients

For the Pecan Topping

  • 1 cup maple syrup
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1/2 cup pecans, roughly chopped

For the French Toast

  • 2 Tbsp. butter
  • 1 tsp. cinnamon
  • 2 Tbsp. brown sugar
  • 4 eggs
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 tsp. vanilla extract
  • 8 slices St. Pierre Brioche Bread
  • Powdered sugar, for topping
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans, for serving

Instructions

  1. In a medium saucepan, combine maple syrup, brown sugar, butter and pecans. Stir well, bring to a simmer, then set aside.
  2. Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine and whisk cinnamon, brown sugar, eggs, milk and vanilla.
  4. Dip each piece of bread in the egg mixture, then fry in the skillet until bread is golden brown on both sides.
  5. Serve French toast with the maple pecan topping. Top with powdered sugar and chopped pecans.
