Creamy Pumpkin Hummus is the perfect healthy appetizer to celebrate fall!
This savory hummus is a beautiful color of orange and would be delicious at a tailgate, before trick or treating or as an after school snack with sweet apples, pears and pita bread.


Hummus only takes about 5 minutes to make in the food processor, which means there’s no reason not to try it! Garnish with pumpkin seeds, rosemary and pomegranate seeds.

This recipe features Heinen’s garbanzo beans, Heinen’s canned pumpkin, Heinen’s tahini, Heinen’s fresh squeezed orange juice and Heinen’s spices. You will love the savory flavors mixed with the sweet orange juice and warm spices.

Ingredients
- 1 15 oz. can Heinen's chickpeas, rinsed and drained
- 1 cup Heinen's pumpkin puree
- 1 Tbsp. Heinen's extra virgin olive oil
- 3 Tbsp. Heinen's tahini
- 1 Tbsp. Heinen's fresh squeezed orange juice
- 1/2 tsp. Heinen's cumin
- 1/4 tsp. Heinen's cayenne pepper
- 1/4 tsp. Heinen's paprika {smoked paprika for a smoky flavor}
- 1/4 tsp. salt
- 2 tsp. Heinen's pure organic maple syrup
- 3 garlic cloves
- 1/4 cup toasted pumpkin seed kernels, plus more to taste for garnish
- 1/4 cup pomegranate seeds, for garnish
- Rosemary, for garnish
- Pita bread, pita chips, pretzels or fruit, for serving
Instructions
- Drain the chickpea liquid into a bowl and set aside. Rinse the chickpeas.
- In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, pumpkin, olive oil, tahini, orange juice, cumin, cayenne pepper, salt, syrup and garlic. Process the ingredients until smooth. Add some of the chickpea liquid if the hummus it too thick and blend until smooth.
- Transfer the hummus to a serving platter or bowl.
- Refrigerate for two hours before serving, if possible.
- Garnish with pumpkin seeds and pomegranate seeds. Serve with pita chips, apples, pretzels or pears.
