Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • There’s big, bold flavor with minimal prep. The jalapeño-seasoned burgers bring just the right amount of heat, balanced by the creaminess of scallion cream cheese and crunch of fried onions. Because so much flavor is built right into the patties, there’s very little extra work required.
  • It’s quick to prepare and perfect for weeknights or easy hosting. With pre-made burgers and quick-fried onions, this meal comes together in well under 30 minutes. It’s easy enough for a busy evening but impressive enough for guests.
  • The high-quality ingredients do all the heavy lifting. Using Heinen’s gourmet burgers guarantees quality, freshness, and flavor. A few simple toppers and a no-fuss side dish (Heinen’s Fan Favorite Kettle Chips) bring it all together effortlessly.

Ingredients

  • 4 Heinen’s Jalapeño Blitz Burgers
  • 4 slices Great Lakes Sharp Cheddar Cheese
  • Heinen’s Canola Oil
  • 1 large Vidalia onion, peeled and cut into very thin rings
  • Fine sea salt
  • Heinen’s Scallion Cream Cheese
  • 4 potato hamburger buns, lightly toasted
  • Heinen’s Original Kettle Chips

Instructions

  1.  On an indoor grill pan or outdoor grill, cook burgers to your liking. For medium doneness, grill each side for about 5 minutes, or until internal cooking temperature reaches 140-145°F.
  2. Top each burger with a slice of cheese during the last couple of minutes of cook time. Allow burgers to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
  3. While the burgers rest, heat ½ inch of canola oil in a 10-inch cast iron skillet over medium-high heat. When the oil is hot (it should bubble around the handle of a wooden spoon when inserted into the oil), fry the onions, stirring frequently, until golden brown, 2 to 4 minutes.
  4. Transfer onions to a paper towel-lined plate and season with salt.
  5. Spread a layer of scallion cream cheese on the bottom buns and top with burgers, crispy fried onions, and top buns.
  6. Serve with kettle chips.
