Using Heinen’s Essential Oils

Derived from flowers, barks, stem, leaves, roots, fruits and other parts of plants, essential oils have been around for ages. They are so versatile and can have many positive benefits for our health and happiness. Aromatherapy is a complementary therapy that uses essential oils to remedy various ailments. The oils are extracted by various methods such as stem distillation, solvent extraction, carbon dioxide extraction, and so forth. At Heinen’s we are excited to announce our very own line of essential oils found in our wellness department!

Our line of pure, therapeutic grade oils comes from Amplexo. They work with expert and trusted growers who use the best methods of growing and harvest; then carefully distill or press to retrieve the oils. Every batch of essential oil is tested with state-of-the-art analyzing equipment and no oil is used if it doesn’t pass standard levels of purity and are proven to be unadulterated. Finally, Amplexo blends and bottles the oils in an audited facility. The best way to consume oils is through diffusion or topical application using carrier oil such as jojoba or coconut. We do not suggest that essential oils be taken internally because they are very potent and can be dangerous when taken internally.

Here are some recipes to get you started…

Facial Serum

• 2 Tablespoons of jojoba oil (health and beauty section)
• 18 drops Heinen’s Lavender Essential Oil
• 18 drops of Heinen’s Frankincense* Essential Oil

Add the above to a 1oz. amber glass dropper bottle. Apply 6 drops of serum to a clean face.

*Frankincense is powerful oil for skin that may help reduce acne, prevent wrinkles, and slow signs of aging, while lavender cools and calms inflamed skin. Be sure to always do a small patch area test first to test for possible allergic reactions.

Hand Sanitizer Spray

• 5-10 Drops Heinen’s Tea Tree* Essential Oil
• 30 Drops Heinen’s Defense Essential Oil Blend
• 1 Tablespoon Thayer’s Witch Hazel (health and beauty section)
• ¼ Teaspoon Jason Vitamin E Oil (health and beauty section)

Add essential oils and Vitamin E oil to a small glass bowl or container and mix. Then add witch hazel to the oils and stir. Finally, pour mixture to a small spray bottle. Shake gently before each use.

*Tea tree, also known as melaleuca, is well known for its powerful antiseptic properties. Widely used throughout Australia for at least the past 100 years, it’s been documented in numerous medical studies to kill many strains of bacteria, viruses and fungi.

Energy Blend 

• 2 drops grapefruit
• 3 drops peppermint
• 3 drops rosemary

Combine all of the above into your diffuser and diffuse! Trust us – you’ll want to have this going in your home and office!
