In 1929, Joe Heinen opened the doors of a small butcher shop on the east side of Cleveland. His aim was to provide the community with the highest quality meat and service. Today, we remain committed to these standards.

With genetic ties to Japanese Wagyu cattle, the most desired breed in the world, our new American Wagyu beef is naturally raised in the Midwest and beloved for its buttery texture, beautiful marbling, melt-in-your-mouth flavor and healthy fats!

Local Beef Program

We currently source our local beef from 12 farms within a 250-mile radius of Cleveland, Ohio. While each family farm is distinct, they all share a deep passion for their craft: raising quality grass-fed beef year-round.

Our Plant-Based Options

We recognize that our customer’s meat preferences have diversified since our start in 1929, which is why you can now find a variety of plant-based meat options in the Meat Department. Try our Quinoa-Stuffed Acorn Squash and Stuffed Portobello Mushrooms or other meat alternatives such as tofu, seitan and tempeh.
