Experience Pacific Northwest Wine Country Through These New Wines

When many wine fans think of west coast wines, it’s a thought often dominated by one word–California. California is the leading wine-growing region not just on the west coast, but in the US, so it’s easy to understand how the state overshadows its neighbors to the north—Oregon and Washington. Through our recent travels, we have come to find that the Pacific Northwest has a variety of exciting, unique and delicious wines to offer.

We’re excited to share some of these discoveries that are not only dynamically-flavored, complex and thoroughly enjoyable, but are terrific values to boot! Our finds are grown in the preeminent regions in Oregon and Washington State.

From Oregon, we find some of this country’s best Pinot Noir and Chardonnay vineyards in the Willamette Valley and Dundee Hills. Washington State’s famous Columbia Valley is the epicenter of some of the world’s best (yes, you read that right) Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot vineyards.

Here are four examples of delicious Pacific Northwest wines that we can’t wait to share with you:

Four Graces Pinot Noir
Perhaps one of the greatest places to grow Pinot Noir outside of Burgundy, France is in Oregon’s Willamette Valley. Protected by the Cascade and Coast Range Mountains that create the perfect cool climate that Pinot Noir loves, the wines from the Willamette are racy, complex and easy to fall for.

This classic example of Willamette terroir features dynamic Bing cherry and cranberry aromas that lead to a juicy mid-palate showing notes of earth and pepper notes. Matching roast salmon and Pinot Noir practically defines the essence of a “perfect pairing!”

Argyle Brut
Considered by many (including us!) to be one of the very best sparkling wine values in America, this world-class fizz is a must-try for all bubbleheads! Made from a blend of 60% Pinot Noir and 40% Chardonnay from Argyle’s Willamette Valley vineyards, this beauty features scents of white peach and honeyed toast that are complemented by flavors of mouth-filling stone fruit and crisp yeasty notes. Consider this one to serve with any manner of grilled fish or poultry for an unbelievably tasty treat!

Greenwing Red Blend
The magnificent vineyards of Washington States’ Columbia Valley really need no validation on the world stage. The reputation of the valley for growing classic red varietals is on-par with many of California’s most esteemed sites. So much so that Napa’s Duckhorn Vineyards has cast their lot in the Columbia Valley with the introduction of their new Greenwing Winery.

This alluring blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah and Merlot is energetic and lively, with fresh aromas and flavors of plum, anise and cocoa. There’s a well-integrated of lively acidity that demands your attention with generously-spiced beef or pork creations.

Oregon Pink Rose Cans
