  • 1 1/2 lbs. Heinen’s CARE Certified 90% lean ground beef
  • 6 bacon strips, cooked and chopped
  • 3/4 cup Heinen’s reduced sugar and sodium ketchup
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 Tbsp. tomato paste

  • 1 tsp. chili powder
  • 1/2 tsp. salt
  • 1/2 tsp. black pepper

  1. In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the white onion and cook for 5 minutes.
  2. Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, about 5 minutes.
  3. Add the chopped bacon strips, ketchup, water, tomato paste, mustard, chili powder, salt and black pepper. Stir well. Simmer on low for 5-10 minutes, stirring frequently.
  4. Top the skillet with cheddar cheese, cover and allow the cheese to melt over the sloppy Joe mixture. Turn the heat off while the cheese is melting.
  5. Divide sloppy Joe mixture across hamburger buns and serve.

  1. My wife said these were her favorite Sloppy Joes out of all the variations she’s had over the years! Nice and easy to make, too.
