Ingredients

For the Caramelized Bananas

  • 2-3 ripe medium-size bananas
  • 1 Tbsp. Heinen’s butter
  • 2 Tbsp. Heinen’s brown sugar
  • 1 tsp. Heinen’s cinnamon
  • ½ tsp. salt

For the Sandwich Filling

  • 4 oz. Heinen's cream cheese, softened
  • 2 Tbsp. Heinen’s powdered sugar
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup Heinen’s walnut halves and pieces

For the Bread

  • ½ cup Heinen’s whole milk
  • 1 large Heinen’s cage free egg
  • ½ tsp. vanilla extract
  • ¼ tsp. Heinen’s cinnamon
  • 6 slices Heinen’s sliced brioche loaf or crème cheese swirl brioche bread

Instructions

For the Caramelized Bananas

  1. Slice the bananas into coins about ½-inch thick. Set aside.
  2. Add the butter, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to a medium-size skillet over medium-low heat. Whisk the ingredients together.
  3. Once the mixture is simmering, add the banana coins to the pan in a single layer. Let them cook for 2 minutes before flipping. Cook the second side for 2 minutes until golden brown.
  4. Remove from the heat and transfer the bananas to a heat-proof bowl. Set aside.

For the Cream Cheese Filling

  1. In a medium-size bowl, combine the cream cheese, powdered sugar and vanilla extract. Use an electric mixer to mix until fully combined and smooth. Set aside.

For the Sandwich Assembly

  1. Spread a generous amount of the cream cheese filling onto one side of 3 brioche slices.
  2. Arrange an even layer of caramelized bananas on top of the cream cheese filling, sprinkle with walnuts, then top with the remaining brioche slices. Set aside.

For Cooking and Serving the Sandwich

  1. Place a skillet over medium-low heat. Grease with a small pat of butter or cooking spray.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the milk, egg, vanilla and cinnamon until fully combined.
  3. Quickly dip both sides of each sandwich into the mixture. Don’t leave them in too long or the bread will be soggy.
  4. Place the dipped sandwich into the skillet. Cook for 2-3 minutes, flip and cook for 2-3 more minutes. Repeat with each sandwich.
  5. Once the sandwiches are done, top with vanilla ice cream, extra caramelized bananas and chopped walnuts. Enjoy!
