The following recipe and photography were provided by local blogger Carolyn Hodges of The Dinner Shift.

Created on a food truck and made famous at Dodger Stadium, Heinen’s Korean Fried Chicken comes from Seoul Sausage Company, Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race” champions, whose Korean Fried Chicken bucket went viral in LA. Heinen’s has that same chicken in their Daily Bites lineup now, so you can build your own bowl (or bucket!) at home!

With most of the work done for you, these bowls come together in minutes. Layer waffle fries in the bottom of a bowl and top with Heinen’s crispy coleslaw, Heinen’s Korean Chicken, a drizzle of Kinder’s Korean Fried Chicken Sauce, and a sprinkle of green onions and sesame seeds to finish.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • This chicken’s famous. This isn’t just any fried chicken! It’s the same Korean Chicken from Seoul Sausage Company, the Food Network’s “Great Food Truck Race” champs, whose Korean Fried Chicken bucket went viral all over LA and became a Dodger Stadium favorite.
  • It can be ready in minutes. With the chicken, coleslaw, and waffle fries all done for you, this bowl comes together with minimal prep. Just heat, layer, and drizzle. No marinating, no frying, no mess.
  • You can build it your way. Swap in steamed rice or sweet potato fries for the waffle fries, pile on extra slaw if you’re a crunch lover, or top it with your favorite Korean-inspired sauce – gochujang mayo, spicy sriracha, or a sweet soy glaze would all be delicious.
