If I had a dollar for every person who told me that “lack of time” was their number one barrier to healthy eating, I’d be a very wealthy woman! To clarify, they weren’t talking about the physical act of eating—that’s pretty simple: open mouth, insert food—but rather the amount of time it takes to prepare nutritious meals. I get it and am right there with you.
I find it’s so much easier to maintain a healthy lifestyle when I keep my kitchen stocked with the right foods. That’s why I am excited to share these new Fx-Approved convenience foods with you and to also add them to my Heinen’s cart this weekend!
Woodstock Organic Frozen Vegetables
Before you buy into the hype that healthy eating is hard, stock your freezer with a few bags of frozen vegetables and see how simple it is to prepare healthy meals in minutes.
Heinen’s is pleased to help you build your freezer inventory of goodness with our newest addition of frozen vegetables from Woodstock, a dedicated company that’s been providing organic, non-GMO options for over 35 years.
If you’re a mushroom lover like me, prepare to marvel at Woodstock’s Mixed Mushrooms—ideal for stir-fries, power bowls, omelets, salads, and soups!
Check out the full bounty of Woodstock Organic Frozen Vegetables in Heinen’s Frozen department in these colorful varieties: Mixed Mushrooms, Asian Style Blend, Mediterranean Blend, Cut Spinach, Mixed Vegetables, Cut Green Beans, Green Peas, Broccoli Florets, Super Sweet Cut Corn, and Petite Brussels Sprouts.

I find it interesting that people are curious about what I eat. After all, who am I but a dietitian with a passion for healthy eating? Besides, we all have different food preferences, and what works for me may not necessarily work for you. But over the years, I’ve grown more comfortable with this question—and I now feel 100% confident that my daily smoothie routine is worth sharing.
I’m so convinced of the health-boosting power of a daily nutritious smoothie that I created an entire toolkit for how to make a balanced smoothie. This way you can tailor the ingredients to suit your tastebuds.
Fruit is a staple ingredient in smoothies. I add avocado and berries to mine, and now, thanks to the convenience of frozen Pitaya Organic Avocado Pieces, I don’t have to wait for my fresh avocados to turn perfectly ripe!
Besides avocado, Heinen’s also carries Pitaya’s Passion Fruit Cubes and organic Dragon Fruit Pieces, all in the Frozen department. If you’ve ever felt intimidated by these fruits in the Produce department, now’s your chance to be bold and drop a few cubes of these exotic fruits into your next smoothie creation!

In case you need another reason to eat hummus, a study showed that adding chickpeas (the main ingredient in hummus!) to the diet for five months resulted in a decrease in serum cholesterol by 19% and low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL) by 24%. Chickpeas and other legumes are also a staple in the diet of healthy centenarians—people living to 100+ years old.
You can certainly make your own hummus from scratch or do what I do and buy an Fx-Approved authentic hummus at Heinen’s to save time.
Baba’s Hummus is as real as it gets! Launched in 2018 by two Palestinian-American siblings after their father’s (baba’s) family recipe, each variety is simply made with a base of cooked chickpeas, tahini (ground sesame seeds), water, lemon juice, salt, and garlic.
Use Baba’s hummus on wraps (like this 15-minute Sprouted Rainbow Veggie Wrap), as a dip for raw veggies, or as a substitute for mayo, like in this 10-minute Buffalo Chickpea Salad Sandwich.

Look for Baba’s Hummus in Heinen’s Deli Department in these veggie-worthy varieties: Garlicky Caramelized Onion, Roasted Red Pepper, Zesty Za’atar, and Creamy Traditional.

Forager Greek Style Plant-Based Yogurt
When it’s not swimming in sugar, yogurt is the ultimate healthy convenience food…especially if it’s made from plants. You may have noticed, however, that plant-based yogurt isn’t exactly booming with protein like animal-based yogurt. Until now!
Introducing Forager Greek Style Yogurt, a dairy-free coconut and cashew-based yogurt with 10 grams of protein per 5-ounce serving (from organic rice protein) and no more than 7 grams of added sugar! It makes the perfect base for this fun Mason jar yogurt parfait!
Forager Greek Style Yogurt is available in Heinen’s Dairy department in these single-serving flavors: Strawberry Rhubarb, Vanilla Cinnamon, Mango Passion Fruit, and Summer Berry. If you prefer unsweetened, we’ve got you covered with Forager’s 24-ounce Unsweetened Greek Style Yogurt.

Key Takeaway
Stock your kitchen with convenient, wholesome foods that help you get healthy meals on the table—and in your glass—in minutes. From frozen vegetables and fruit to protein-rich plant-based yogurt and ready-to-eat hummus, a well-stocked freezer and refrigerator can make healthy eating feel less like a chore and more like a habit.
